What do you want to achieve in 5 years?

Recently I read one article regarding personal development planning. I ask myself same question from time to time: What do you want to achieve in next 5 years?

Let's start with year 2005 since the new year is apporaching very quickly. Within next 5 years I plan to start my own business in one of the following areas:

* Health care solutions in China
* eBusiness solutions in China
* Software outsourcing in China

Meanwhile I will have a weekly plan.

A 5 year plan is used to set the long term goal. A weekly plan is to make sure you can achieve the long term goal step by step.

That is something I need to think and act accordingly. That is something I have done for a long long time.

Let's get started tomorrow...

Christmas plan

I will go to Reno this Christmas holiday. The hotel is Silver Legacy Casino and Resort. The hotel room is quite affordable. It is just $35.99 per night. Current plan is leaving on Dec 22 and coming back on Dec 25. Weather looks good there except it is a little bit cold compared with bay area. It is about 240 miles from the bay area or around 4 hours drive.

Year 2004 is almost over. I need to take sometime to review this un-forgettable year.

visit NYC

I visited NYC over the last weekend. Flied in on Sunday and returned on Monday.

Besides some personal business to take care of, I got roughly 2 hours to look around. I reviewed the NYC map. It is a little far from Wall Street. I was located in 59 Ave but Wall Street is to the south of Manhattan. The Point of interest within accessible range is either Time Square or UN HQ. I decided to go to Time Square.

I lost twice in NY metro. It was so confusing for tourists. In my impression, all trains head to the same direction if they depart from the same platform. I was so confused that I lost twice in the metro. Finally with help from Newspaper stand in Metro, I finally reached Time Square.

Looks like inside metro there are quite some people like me who do not know any direction at all. I think with new year's apporaching, many tourists storm NYC.

The weather was not good at all on Monday. It was cold as well. With such kind of weather I did not have much interest to spend a lot of time outside.

From my point of view NYC is ideal place for Finance guys. It is not a good place to live. The commute from New Jersey to NYC is just unbearable, I guess.

I still like San Francisco, the bay area.
