Random thoughts in a busy life

Don't die wondering...

This is the motto from Alicia Molik, the Australian open Quarter finalist. She defeated Venus Williams but lost to Davenport in the Semi.

I like this motto very much. It clearly states her attitude. I should have this attitude as well if I really really really want to try something and succeed.

first post in a new year

Wow, it has been one month since I last updated my blog. Time really flies...

What is my new year's resolution? I think it is quite simple: Live your life without any regret. That is my goal.

I am reading one book recently. I discovered this book very randomly when I visited Barnes&Noble over the weekend. The name of this book is called "Think and grow rich". The first advice I got by reading this book is that you need to get a burning desire in the first place in order to be successful in your career.

Burning desire! What a great advice! Once again this is proved by Sharapova fighted through Kuznetsova and won the quarter final in this year's Aus Open. One of the most important factor in her win is that she has the burning desire to win the match and move on.

Burning desire is what I missed in my career. Sometime it is not good enough to be a nice guy. You have to get the burning desire to achieve your career goal. I am not that successful in IBM, at Oracle I made some improvement but I do not think it is enough. Lacking a burning desire is definitely one of the things I should be able to improve this year.
